Materials processing

Using short femtosecond pulses in the range of 50 fs and below enables the most precise laser machining for smallest structures of virtually any material. These incredible short pulses enable cold ablation introducing the least amount of heat into the material allowing the machining of very heat sensitive materials. The extremely clean pulses without any background or pedestal pulses contribute positively to working with these difficult materials.

These short pulses enable the use of high peak powers at moderate average powers – the shorter the pulse, the less average power is needed for the same peak power, and hence less residual heat is deposited. This is especially useful for biological samples, where heating may be very critical.
